VW T5 and Touareg 2.5 TDI Crankshaft Sealing Cap
We sell one 3RG 84762 crankshaft access bung seal as a replacement for VW 070103189A. This end cap closes the crankshaft access opening on the Volkswagen 2.5 TDI five cylinder PD engine.
This is an aftermarket replacement part made by 3RG. This isnt a genuine Volkswagen OE part.

Check the engine code and original part number before ordering. This cap is for the listed 2.5 TDI engines rather than every diesel T5 or Touareg.
Why replace the end cap during timing work?
The cap is removed to reach the crankshaft with the positioning and locking tools.
VW workshop manual state it must be replaced once removed but when?
- Crankshaft tool access.
- Engine timing checks or adjustment where the cap is removed.
- The common reason to replace this is that they unfortunately just simply start to leak without any reason.
Oil leaks and choosing the correct cap
A leaking or damaged cap can also need replacement. Common leak spot on 2.5 TDI engines! Note: If you're chasing an oil leak near the crankshaft, check both this T5 crank cap and the main sealing flange (070103153A), as they often leak together.
